Czech Satanists and their motivations to identify with Satanism

Abstract:

Výzkum v rámci bakalářské práce se zaměřuje na analýzu a kategorizaci hlavních motivací a pohnutek pro identifikaci se satanismem u českých satanistů. O rozhovory byli požádáni lidé, kteří se k satanismu hlásí, aby formou narativního interview poskytli výpověď o své cestě k satanismu. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo šest participantů ve věkovém rozmezí 20-45 let. Výzkumné otázky se zaměřují na to, co participanty výzkumu k satanismu přivedlo? Jaké okolnosti a faktory v jejich životě konverzi podpořily? Jaké je vlastně pojetí satanismu u českých satanistů? Cílem výzkumu je přispět k poznání jak se v českém prostředí lidé k satanismu dostávají, tak i získat dílčí vhled do aktuální české satanistické scény a toho, jaké vlivy, včetně těch zahraničních, se zde v individuálních příbězích satanistů objevují.

Abstract:

The research within the bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis and categorization of the main motivations and motives for identifying with Satanism among Czech Satanists. People who claim to be Satanists were asked to give interviews in the form of a narrative interview about their journey to Satanism. Six participants in the age range of 20-45 took part in the research. The research questions focus on what brought the research participants to Satanism. What circumstances and factors in their lives encouraged the conversion? What is the concept of Satanism among Czech Satanists? The goal of the research is to contribute to the knowledge of how people come to Satanism in the Czech environment and to gain partial insight into the current Czech Satanist scene and what influences, including foreign ones, appear here in the individual stories of Satanists.
