The role of active transport in the context of physical activity in high school students

Abstract:

Využití pohybové aktivity v souvislosti s dopravou je v dnešní motorizované době nelehkou součástí každého jedince. Dochází k úbytku přirozeného pohybu vzhledem také ke skutečnosti dnešní sedavé společnosti. Využití aktivní dopravy jako přirozené součásti pohybové aktivity přináší fyzické i psychické benefity. Práce se zabývá aktivní dopravou v rámci pohybové aktivity a s ní také vnímanými bariérami a facilitátory. Dotazníkového šetření se zúčastnilo 128 studentů středních škol. Dotazník zjišťuje míru pohybové aktivity, míru aktivní dopravy a dále vliv prostředí v rámci aktivní dopravy. Výsledky ukázaly, že celková míra pohybové aktivity studentů průměrně dosahuje 7903,37 MET minut/týden, v rámci aktivní dopravy studenti vynaložili průměrně 1113,46 MET minut/týden. Mezi nejvíce reportované bariéry řadíme vzdálenost školy od bydliště, dopravní ruch, či absenci cyklostezek. Naopak mezi vnímané facilitátory byly uváděny blízkost školy od bydliště a méně rušná doprava.

Abstract:

The use of physical activity in the context of transport is a difficult part of every individual in today's motorised age. There is a decline in natural exercise due to the reality of today's sedentary society. Using active transport as a natural part of physical activity brings physical and psychological benefits. This thesis explores active transport as part of physical activity and the perceived barriers and facilitators associated with it. 128 secondary school students participated in the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire investigates the level of physical activity, the level of active transport and also the influence of the environment within active transport. The results showed that the overall level of physical activity of students averaged 7903.37 MET minutes/week, and within active transportation, students spent an average of 1113.46 MET minutes/week. The most reported barriers include distance of the school from the residence, traffic, or lack of bike lanes. In contrast, perceived facilitators included proximity to school from residence and less busy traffic.
