Winston Churchill and the debate about rising power of Nazi Germany

Abstract:

This thesis deals with a rather controversial figure of Winston Churchill and his opinions about the rising power of Nazi Germany in the period of his political isolation in the 1930s. The main idea is to analyze the relationship between Churchill´s perception of Adolf Hitler and military preparations of Nazi Germany and, on the other hand, the real situation in Germany. The thesis covers the period from the Geneva Disarmament Conference which started in 1932 to the division of Czechoslovakia in 1939.

Abstract:

Práca sa zaoberá vcelku kontroverznou postavou Winstona Churchilla a jeho názormi ohľadom vzrastajúcej moci nacistického Nemecka v období jeho politickej izolácie, teda počas 30. rokov 20. storočia. Hlavnou ideou je analýza vzťahu Churchillovej percepcie Adolfa Hitlera a vojenských príprav nacistického Nemecka a na druhej strane, skutočnej situácie ktorá panovala v Nemecku. Práca sa zameriava na obdobie od Ženevskej konferencie o odzbrojovaní, ktorá sa konala v roku 1932 až do rozbitia Československa v roku 1939.
