A Comparison of Chosen Interpretations of Josef Suk's Fantasy in G Minor, Op. 24

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na skladatelskou osobnost Josefa Suka a komparaci vybraných interpretací jeho Fantasie g moll op. 24. První kapitola přibližuje život, dílo a kompoziční styl Josefa Suka společně s postavením výše uvedené skladby v jeho tvorbě pro smyčcové nástroje. Druhá kapitola se zabývá výše uvedenou skladbou v kontextu české a světové literatury pro housle. Závěrečná, třetí kapitola s praktickou částí se soustředí na analýzu a komparaci vybraných interpretací v podání Josefa Suka ml., Pamely Frank a Christiana Tetzlaffa.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the Czech composer Josef Suk and a comparison of chosen interpretations of his Fantasy in G minor, op. 24. The first chapter deals with the composer's life, work, and the development of his compositional style as well as the inclusion of the above-mentioned composition in his work for strings. The second chapter is concerned with the analysis of Fantasy in G minor, op. 24 and its inclusion in the context of the Czech and international violin repertoire. The final chapter is dedicated to the analysis and following comparison of interpretations by Josef Suk Jr., Pamela Frank, and Christian Tetzlaff.
