Automation of backup restoration and testing consistency of recovered VMs on Proxmox platform

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá návrhem a implementací mechanismu, který automatizovaně obnovuje a testuje konzistenci záloh virtuálních strojů běžících na platformě Proxmox. Na začátku jsou definovány požadavky na výsledné řešení, poté je popsána část aktuální podnikové infrastruktury vztahující se k tvorbě záloh. Následně je navrhnut a implementován mechanismus, který zálohy automatizovaně obnovuje a testuje dostupnost služeb běžících v obnovených virtuálních strojích. Výsledkem je nový síťový segment v rámci podnikové sítě, ve kterém probíhají obnovy i testy. Informace o proběhlých testech jsou správcům sítě prezentovány ve webovém grafickém rozhraní.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the design and implementation of a mechanism that automates the restoration and consistency testing of backups of virtual machines running on the Proxmox platform. First of all, requirements for the resulting solution are defined. This is followed by a description of the current enterprise infrastructure related to backup creation. Then a mechanism is designed and implemented that automatically restores backups and tests the availability of services running on the restored virtual machines. The result of this thesis is a new network segment within the enterprise network, where restorations and tests take place. Information about completed tests is presented to network administrators through a web-based graphical user interface.
