Shaken Baby Syndrome

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda zdravotnický personál a rodičky znají syndrom třeseného dítěte (SBS), zda by o něm chtěli získat více informací, zda zdravotnický personál informuje rodičky o způsobech tišení pláče dítěte a jestli věnuje větší pozornost dětem s rizikovými faktory, které pravděpodobnost vniku SBS zvyšují. Zajímalo nás také, zda se odpovědi na vybrané otázky budou lišit mezi nemocnicemi fakultními a nefakultními. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořil zdravotnický personál pracující na neonatologických odděleních perinatologických center České republiky a rodičky zde hospitalizované, které vyplnily od 10. 2. do 16. 3. 2014 dotazník. Byly vytvořeny dvě verze nestandardizovaného dotazníku (zdravotnický personál, rodičky). Soubor prezentovalo 430 respondentů, z toho 88 dotazníků vyplnili lékaři, 184 sestry/porodní asistentky a 158 rodičky. Výsledky: Výsledky prokázaly rozdíly ve znalosti SBS mezi jednotlivými skupinami respondentů. Informace o problematice SBS podávalo rodičkám více lékařů než sester/porodních asistentek, ale významně méně rodiček uvedlo, že bylo informováno. O způsobech tišení dlouhodobého pláče dítěte dostalo informace výrazně méně rodiček, než jak uvádí zdravotnický personál. V oblasti edukace věnuje větší pozornost rodičům ?rizikových dětí? více lékařů než sester/porodních asistentek, ale významně méně rodiček se domnívá, že bylo dostatečně informováno. Významný rozdíl v odpovědích respondentů mezi nemocnicemi byl zjištěn jen ve znalosti SBS u skupiny rodiček. Závěr: SBS se stal v posledních letech velmi diskutovaným a zkoumaným tématem a v ČR si jistě zaslouží větší pozornost než doposud. Je důležité zvyšovat informovanost veřejnosti o jeho prevenci. Abstract:

Goal: The goals of the study were to determine whether the medical staff and mothers know about Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS), whether they want to get more information about it and if the medical staff informs new mothers about ways of soothing a crying infant. The next goal was to determine, if medical staff pays more attention to children with risk factors, which increase the probability of SBS. Furthermore, we were interested whether the answers for selected questions will vary between a faculty and non-faculty hospitals. Methodics: The research sample consisted of the medical staff from neonatal wards of perinatal centers in the Czech Republic and of the hospitalized mothers, who completed questionnaire between February 2nd and the March 16th 2014. There were created two versions of the customized questionnaire (medical staff, mothers). There were 430 respondents totally, 88 questionnaires were filled by doctors, 184 by nurses/midwives and 158 by mothers. Results: The results showed differences in SBS knowledge between particular groups of respondents. The information about the SBS were provided to mothers more by doctors than by nurses/midwives, but significantly fewer mothers stated, that they were informed. There were significantly less mothers, who were informed about the ways of soothing a long child's cry, than was indicated by the medical staff. More doctors than nurses/midwives paid special attention to the parents of ?at-risk child?, but significantly fewer mothers though they were informed sufficiently than it was stated by doctors. A significant difference in the responses between hospitals was found only in the SBS knowledge among the mothers. Conclusion: SBS has become a widely discussed and researched topic during recent years and it certainly deserves more attention in Czech Republic.
