Abstract:

Maladaptivní denní snění je nedostatečně prozkoumaný jev charakterizovaný nadměrnou fantazií, která narušuje wellbeing člověka a je často doprovázena kinestetickou aktivitou. Kvalitativní studie naznačují, že osoby trpící MDS zažívají živou představivost, která je jedním z rozlišujících faktorů mezi MDS a běžným denním sněním. Cílem výzkumu je prozkoumat, zda míra celkových a kinestetických symptomů MDS má vliv na živost vizuální a vizuálně-pohybové představivosti, a to pomocí kvantitativních nástrojů. Proměnné byly měřeny pomocí VVIQ-2, VMIQ a MDS-16, spolu s potenciálními intervenujícími proměnnými, jejichž vliv byl později kontrolován použitím lineární regresní analýzy. Výsledky zjištěné ze vzorku 231 respondentů podporují hypotézu, že živost vizuální i pohybové představivosti souvisí s mírou celkových symptomů MDS i samotných kinestetických symptomů. Mezi kinestetickými symptomy a (externí/interní) preferencí vizuální perspektivy však nebyl nalezen žádný vztah. V práci jsou uvedeny možnosti aplikace těchto výsledků, limity studie a návrhy pro další výzkum.

Abstract:

Maladaptive daydreaming is an under-researched condition characterized by excessive fantasy that interferes with one’s wellbeing, often accompanied by kinesthetic activity. Qualitative studies suggest that MD sufferers experience vivid imagery, which is one of distinguishing factors between MD and daydreaming. The research aims to examine whether the extent of overall and kinesthetic MD symptoms has an effect on the vividness of visual and visual-movement imagery, while using quantifiable measures. These variables were measured by VVIQ-2, VMIQ and MDS-16, together with potential intervening variables, which were later controlled in linear regression analysis. The results of a sample of 231 respondents support the hypothesis that both vividness of visual and movement imagery relate to overall MD symptoms and kinesthetic symptoms. However, no relationship was found between kinesthetic symptoms and (external/internal) perspective preference. These results are discussed in the thesis, along with their application, limits, and suggestions for further research.
