Analysis of spectator reception and perception of moving images

Abstract:

In my thesis "Analysis of the works of Marina Abramović´s works through the viewer'sreception and perception" aims to analyze the works of the established author Marina Abramović through the perception and reception of the work from the viewer's position in the context of used technologies in creating her artworks, which also interfere with perception and reception her works by the audience. My work is divided into the theoretical and practical parts, which together continue to focus on the readers reactions and bring closer the ways of interaction and reaction of the audience to the works of Marina Abramović. The theoretical part of my work is primarily focused on the analysis of concepts, art directions used by the author, and the analysis of the viewer and perception and reception in relation to the action art and the art of moving images. In the second, practical part of the work, I confront the facts from the theoretical part with the author's work and analyze the viewer as an observer of the artwork and the viewer as a direct participant in the artwork. I also emphasize the uses of technologies in the work and their intervention in the reception and perception of the viewer, as well as feminism, sexuality, and physicality, which are significant elements in the work of Marina Abramović. Based on available and studied literature and internet sources - mostly audiovisual recordings of the author's performance, I am working on the following thesis: Who is the viewer? How do Marina Abramović's works affect the viewer? And what is the role of the viewer in the works of Marina Abramović?

Abstract:

Vo svojej bakalárskej diplomovej práci „Analýza diel Mariny Abramović prostredníctvom diváckej recepcie a percepcie” si kladiem za úlohu analyzovať diela etablovanej autorky Mariny Abramović prostredníctvom vnímania a prijímania diela z pozície diváka aj v kontexte technológií užitých pri tvorbe jej umeleckých diel, ktoré taktiež zasahujú do vnímania a prijímania jej diel divákom. Moja práca sa delí na teoretickú a praktickú časť, ktoré sa spolu snažia čitateľovi predostrieť a priblížiť spôsoby interakcie a reakcie divákov na diela Mariny Abramović. Pričom v teoretickej časti moje práce je sa primárne zameriavam na analýzu pojmov, umeleckých smerov užitých v autorkou a rozborom diváka a percepcie a recepcie vo vzťahu akčnému umeniu a umeniu pohyblivých obrazov. V druhej, praktickej časti práce konfrontujem fakty z teoretickej časti s tvorbou autorky a analyzujem diváka ako pozorovateľa umeleckého diela a aj diváka ako priameho účastníka umeleckého diela. Taktiež popri tom kladiem dôraz na užité technológie v danom diele aj ich zásah do recepcie a percepcie diváka, rovnako tak aj na feminizmus, sexualitu či fizyčno, ktoré sú výraznými prvkami v tvorbe Mariny Abramović. Na základe dostupnej a naštudovanej literatúry a internetových zdrojov - prevažné audiovizuálnych záznamov performance autorky, spracovávam následné tézy: Čo je to diváctvo? Ako vplývajú diela Mariny Abramović na diváka? A aká je úloha diváka v dielach Mariny Abramović?
