The Roots of Biocentrism - Basic Ideas of Albert Schweitzer's Philosophy

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se snaží nalézt a popsat takové myšlenkové základy, na kterých postavil Albert Schweitzer etiku úcty k životu. Vychází z pohledu Alberta Schweitzera na dosavadní vývoj etiky, popisuje situaci v etickém a filosofickém myšlení na přelomu 19. a 20. století a vyvozuje závěry, které vedly Schweitzera ke koncipování etiky úcty k životu. Dále se zabývá pojmem biocentrismu jako jednoho ze směrů současné ekologické etiky. Popisuje jeho obecné zásady a přibližuje ho na základě definicí současných autorů. Pomocí popsaných skutečností se snaží porovnat etiku úcty k životu a biocentrismus a na tomto základě popsat souvislosti a odlišnosti mezi oběma etikami. Díky těmto zjištěním pak dokazuje, proč lze považovat zásady etiky úcty k životu za kořeny biocentrismu. V samém závěru se práce snaží porovnat biocentrické a antropocentrické pojetí světa a upozorňuje na problém ekofašismu.

Abstract:

This graduation theses tries to find and describe basic ideas on which Albert Schweitzer established his ethics of veneration of life. Its based on Schweitzer`s view of evolution of the ethics, then it describes the situation in the ethical and philosophical thought on the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century and making the conclusions which led Schweitzer to creating the ethics of veneration of life. Then it puts mind to biocentrism as one way of the environmental ethics. It describes general theses of biocentrism. Based on definitions of present authors it shows biocentrism closer to the readers. Via described facts it tries to compare the ethics of veneration of life and biocentrism and describe connections and differences between both of them. By means of these findings it demonstrate why we can comprehend the ethics of veneration of life as a base of biocentrism. In the end this graduation theses tries to compare biocentrical and antropocentrical point of view and advert to a risk of ekofascism.
