Small farms in the Ore Mountains

Abstract:

Rozpad družstevního a státem řízeného zemědělství na počátku devadesátých let 20. století se výrazně projevil zejména v horských oblastech. Zůstaly zde opuštěné hospodářské budovy a jen sporadicky udržované pastviny, neboť o sklizené pícniny neměl nikdo zájem. V posledních desetiletích se však situace začíná měnit. Horské louky ožívají stády různých plemen skotu a zemědělství na horách začíná opět žít. Za touto změnou stojí nový fenomén českého zemědělství – rodinné farmy. Tato forma je v tradičních zemědělských zemích jako je Francie či Polsko běžná, u nás si (často i těžce) hledá své místo v agrárním systému. Ve své bakalářské práci se zaměřuji na zemědělské podnikání v Krušných horách, konkretizované malou farmou, jejíž provoz zajišťují členové naší rodiny. Jejím cílem je nejen vymezit principy efektivního fungování malých zemědělských podniků, ale na konkrétní případové studii poukázat na boj o existenci jedné z malých farem v pohraniční horské oblasti.

Abstract:

The disintegration of cooperative and state-run agriculture in the early 1990s had a significant impact, especially in mountain areas. Abandoned farm buildings and only sporadically maintained pastures remained here, as no one was interested in the forage harvested. In recent decades, however, the situation has begun to change. Mountain meadows come to life with herds of different breeds of cattle and agriculture in the mountains begins to live again. Behind this change is a new phenomenon of Czech agriculture - family farms. This form is common in traditional agricultural countries such as France or Poland, in our country it (often even hardly) finds its place in the agrarian system. In my bachelor's thesis I focus on agricultural business in the Ore Mountains, concretized by a small farm, the operation of which is provided by members of our family. Its aim is not only to define the principles of efficient operation of small farms, but also to point out a specific case study to the struggle for the existence of one of the small farms in the border mountain area.
