Espana Plus Ultra: Immigration and Workforce since the 80s

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the situation of immigrants in the labour market and the impact of immigration on the Spanish economy. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the development of the economic and political situation in Spain since the end of Franco?s regime. Also, the work describes and examines the development of immigration and the legislation created in this period in relation to it, and the above mentioned impact of the immigrant workforce in the Spanish economy. In the practical part, we focus on the situation of immigrants in the labour market and then we analyze the situation in the construction industry, which was the driving force of Spanish economy in the studied period. For our analysis, we used data from Pajarese Miguel and Juan Dias Nicolas? surveys as well as official data, from sources such as EPA, INE, and the Padrón Municipal [Municipal Registar] and Boletin de Estadísticas Laborales [Bulletin of Labour Statistics].

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo provést analýzu postavení imigranta na trhu práce a dopadu imigrace na španělskou ekonomiku. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí: části teoretické a části praktické. V teoretické části jsme se věnovali vývoji ekonomické a politické situace ve Španělsku po r. 1980, vývoji imigrace a příslušné legislativy v této oblasti. Nakonec jsme stručně popsali vliv imigrace na španělskou ekonomiku. V praktické části jsme se zaměřili na postavení imigranta na trhu práce a následně jsme analyzovali situaci v sektoru stavebnictví, které bylo motorem španělské ekonomiky ve studovaném období. K našim analýzám jsme použili jak data z výzkumů Miguela Pajarese, a Juana Díase Nicoláse, tak i oficiální údaje, které uvádí EPA, INE, Padrón Municipal [Registr Obyvatel] a Boletín de Estadísticas Laborales.
