Decorative Stucco Work in Moravia in the Years 1550-1620: Between Local Tradition and the Reception of Italian Models

Abstract:

Cílem předkládané diplomové práce je představit souhrnnou typologii dekorativních štukatur na Moravě v období pozdní renesance, s důrazem na specificky komponovaná schémata, zvaná komunikující rámy a rytmizované kazety. Náležitosti jednotlivých typů dekorací dokládá katalog kvalitativně vybraných štukových lokalit. Práce zkoumá také italské vzory, jejich způsob šíření a adaptování na moravské prostředí, přičemž se snaží přiblížit, v jakých prostorách byly tyto štukatury užívány.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis aims to present a comprehensive typology of decorative stucco in Moravia in the late Renaissance, with emphasis specifically on composed schemes, called communicating frames and rhythmic cassettes. The requisites of individual types of decorations are illustrated by the catalogue of qualitatively selected stucco sites. The thesis also examines Italian models, the way of their dissemination and adaptation to the Moravian environment, while trying to outline in which spaces these stuccoes were used.
