Technical documentation analyzer based on Flesch-Kincaid algorithm

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá určováním složitosti textu. Ukazuje, kde všude nachází podobná analýza dokumentů své uplatnění. Popisuje různé vzorce pro určování složitosti a na základě porovnání ukazuje, že algoritmus Flesch-Kincaid dosahuje nejlepších výsledků. V praktické části byl vytvořen program pro firmu Red Hat používající tento algoritmus. Dále jsou rozebrány hlavní implementační problémy při tvorbě tohoto programu a navržena jejich řešení. Následně byl použit pro analýzu několika literárních děl a na výsledcích bylo ukázáno, proč a jak je využití metod řešících složitost textu v praxi prospěšné.

Abstract:

This bachelors thesis is about readability tests. It shows where is this analysis useful and which methods we can use to count it. Based on comparison of those methods there is shown, that Flesch-Kincaid algorithm is most accurate of all of them. In the practical part was created program using this algorithm for the Red Hat company. There are also analyzed the main implementation problems in the creation of this program and proposed their solutions. The program was used to analyze several literary works and on the results was shown why it is important and how to use methods counting readability of the text in practise.
