Animal liberation from the leftist anti-capitalist perspective

Abstract:

The main objective of this work is to analyze and compare the approaches of members of the anti-authoritative, in other words anarchist movement on the basis of the relationship towards the rights and liberation of nonhuman animals. The first part shows the historical perspective by writers such as L. N. Tolstoy, P. A. Kropotkin and Elisée Reclus, the other one analyzes and compares the approaches in the current anti-authoritative movement with an effort to place it in the activist scene for animal rights in the Czech Republic. It was revealed that the anarchist movement and the radical animal liberationists have different opinions in relation to this topic and that their attitudes are diverse (historically and currently), however, both of them point out the resistance to capitalism and to speciesism as the form of hierarchical structure. The results of this work allow the constructive debate on the impact of societal relations in the use of nonhuman animals and ecological devastation, as well as contribute to it.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je analýza a komparácia prístupov členov antiautoritatívneho, resp. anarchistického hnutia na základe vzťahu k otázke práv a oslobodenia mimoľudských zvierat. Prvá časť práce preukazuje historickú perspektívu pomocou autorov ako L. N. Tolstoj, P. A. Kropotkin a Elisée Reclus, druhá analyzuje a porovnáva prístupy v súčasnom antiautoritatívnom hnutí so snahou o zasadenie do aktivistického prostredia za práva zvierat na území Českej republiky. Ukázalo sa, že anarchistické hnutie v spojení s radikálnymi ochranármi zvierat je názorovo vo vzťahu k tejto téme veľmi diverzifikované (historicky aj v súčasnosti), preukazuje sa však spoločný dôraz na odpor ku kapitalizmu a k druhovej nadradenosti ako forme hierarchickej štruktúry. Výsledky tejto práce umožňujú a prispievajú ku konštruktívnej diskusii o vplyve celospoločenských vzťahov na využívanie mimoľudských zvierat a na ekologickú devastáciu.
