Long-term financial sustainability of the pension system in Czech republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce je kritické zhodnocení udržitelnosti českého důchodového systému z hlediska demografie, ochrany před chudobou a spravedlností a návrh pro zlepšení udržitelnosti důchodového systému pro delší časové období. První, teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na vymezení teoretické problematiky a popsání současného penzijního systému v České republice a jeho financování. Následuje praktická část práce, která po analýze dostupných dokumentů predikuje demografický a ekonomický vývoj v České republice a po osvojení a vysvětlení poznatků a definic z teoretické části obsahuje důsledné kritické zhodnocení českého důchodového systému, a to zejména z hlediska dlouhodobé udržitelnosti. Práce končí praktickými návrhy a doporučeními, jež by měly směřovat ke zlepšení udržitelnosti důchodového systému pro delší časové období. V diplomové práci je uplatněna metoda analýzy sekundárních dat, pro jejichž získání byla užita metoda vyhledávání dokumentů a datových záznamů.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to provide a critical evaluation of the sustainability of the pension system of the Czech Republic in terms of demography, protection against poverty and justice, as well as to present a suggestion to improve the sustainability of the pension system in the long term. The first, theoretical part of the work focuses on characterizing the theoretical issues and portraying the current pension system in the Czech Republic and the ways in which it is funded. This is followed by the practical part, which, after analyzing the available documents, predicts demographic and economic development in the Czech Republic. Moreover, after adoption and explaining the knowledge and definitions from the theoretical part, the practical part contains also a thorough critical evaluation of the Czech pension system, especially in terms of long-term sustainability. The paper concludes with practical proposals and recommendations that should aim to improve the sustainability of the pension system over a longer period of time. The diploma thesis used the method of analysis of secondary data, for the acquisition of which the method of searching for documents and data records was used.
