Assessment of the performance of Czech warmblood horses in jumping competitions in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na téma posouzení výkonnosti koní plemene český teplokrevník ve skokových soutěžích v České republice. V první části, v literárním přehledu, je zpracován historický vývoj koní a vznik plemene český teplokrevník. Následně je zmíněna charakteristika tohoto plemene, včetně šlechtění, způsobů selekce a systému výkonnostních zkoušek. Ve druhé části bude popsána historie skokového sportu, představení samotné disciplíny a popis pravidel skokových soutěží. Třetí část diplomové práce analyzuje současný stav a zhodnocuje počet a dosaženou výkonnost koní plemene český teplokrevník, startujících ve skokových soutěžích v ČR, s koňmi ostatních plemen. Pro tuto analýzu byla zpracována databáze skokových koní v ČR s využitím dat z žebříčků skokových koní, poskytnutých z internetových stránek jezdeckého informačního systému, který spravuje Česká jezdecká federace. Databáze byla zpracována pro roky 2017, 2018, 2019 a 2020. Tato databáze poté byla využita k statistickému vyhodnocení dat a celkovému zhodnocení výkonnosti koní startujících ve skokových soutěžích. Byl zjištěn vysoce statisticky průkazný vliv plemene, pohlaví, věku a roku startu na výkonnost koní a tyto faktory byly dále testovány. Bylo zjištěno, že nejpočetnějším plemenem v ČR je český teplokrevník a měl i nejvyšší počet startů ve skokových soutěžích. Nejvíce českých teplokrevníků dosahuje maximální výkonnosti v soutěžích obtížnosti 100-115 cm. Nejúspěšnějšími plemeny ve skokových soutěžích v ČR jsou belgická plemena, zangersheide a KWPN. Z hlediska pohlaví jsou hřebci vysoce prokazatelně lepší než klisny a valaši a nejlepších výsledků dosahují koně ve věku 7-12 let. Výkonnost koní do roku 2019 rostla, v roce 2020 jsme zaznamenali mírný pokles.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the topic of assessing the performance of Czech warm-blooded horses in jumping competitions in the Czech Republic. The first part, in the literature review, deals with the historical development of horses and the origin of the Czech Warmblood breed. Subsequently, the characteristics of this breed are mentioned, including breeding, methods of selection and system of performance tests. The second part will describe the history of jumping, the introduction of the discipline itself and a description of the rules of jumping competitions. The third part of the thesis analyzes the current state and evaluates the number and performance of horses of the Czech Warmblood breed, starting in jumping competitions in the Czech Republic, with horses of other breeds. For this analysis, a database of jumping horses in the Czech Republic was prepared using data from the jumping horse rankings obtained from the website of the Equestrian Information System managed by the Czech Equestrian Federation. The database was processed for the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. This database was then used for statistical evaluation of data and overall evaluation of the performance of horses starting in jumping competitions. A highly statistically conclusive influence of the breed, sex, age and year of start on the performance of horses was found and these factors were further tested. It was found that the most numerous breed in the Czech Republic is the Czech Warmblood and had the highest number of starts in jumping competitions. Most Czech warmbloods reach a maximum performance of 100-115 cm. The most successful breeds in jumping competitions in the Czech Republic are belgian breeds, zangersheide and KWPN. In the terms of sex, stallions are demonstrably better than mares and geldings, the best results are achieved in horses aged 7-12 years. The performance of horses grew until 2019, in 2020 we saw a slight decline.
