Process optimization in a banking institution

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je nejen provést optimalizaci vybraného podnikového procesu, ale také identifikovat vhodné prostředky a nástroje pro dosažení této optimalizace. V diplomové práci je bankovní instituce, o které se hovoří, označena fiktivním názvem XYZ, aby byla zachována její anonymita. V aplikační části diplomové práce je provedena detailní analýza konkrétního podnikového procesu, který se zabývá zpracováním částí reportu "Povinně zveřejňované informace". Následně současný stav procesu je mode-lován pomocí notace BPMN a softwarového nástroje MS Visio. Na základě procesní ana-lýzy a po definování úzkých míst, je modelován proces s řešením, které zahrnovalo optimalizaci a automatizaci. Poté následuje fáze implementace, kde nově navržený proces, vycházející z navržených změn a optimalizací, je přenesen do praxe. Tato im-plementace je prováděna pomocí následujících nástrojů jako SQL, Power Query a VBA. Poté následuje fáze validace a verifikace, kde je ověřena správnost a efektivnost im-plementovaných změn. Závěrečná kapitola hodnotí přínosy provedené optimalizace a analyzuje její dopad.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is not only to optimize the selected business process, but also to identify the appropriate means and tools to achieve this optimization. In the thesis, the banking institution under discussion is referred to by the fictitious name XYZ in order to preserve its anonymity. In the application part of the thesis, a detailed analysis of a specific business process is carried out, which deals with the processing of parts of the report "Mandatory Disclosures". Subsequently, the current state of the process is modelled using BPMN notation and the MS Visio software tool. Based on the process analysis and after defining bottlenecks, the process is modeled with a solution that included optimization and automation. This is followed by an implementation phase where the newly designed process, based on the proposed changes and optimizations, is put into practice. This im-plementation is done using the following tools such as SQL, Power Query and VBA. This is followed by a validation and verification phase where the correctness and effectiveness of the im-plemented changes are verified. The final chapter evaluates the benefits of the optimization performed and analyzes its impact.
