Abstract:
This master thesis discusses the depiction of the Holocaust in Art Spiegelman's Maus and in Cynthia Ozick's The Shawl. The theoretical part of this thesis explores the origins of the Holocaust and introduces the Holocaust literature and the Second-Generation Holocaust literature. Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na vyobrazení holocaustu v grafickém románu Maus autora Arta Spiegelmana a v knize The Shawl autorky Cynthie Ozick. Teoretická část je věnována holocaustu, literatuře o holocaustu a literatuře o druhé generaci. Dále se zabývá teorií traumatu, která je v pozdějších částech práce využita k analýze jednotlivých děl.
