Abstract:

Úvod: Karcinom prostaty je v České republice nejčastějším nádorovým onemocněním u mužů a je třetí nejčastější příčinou úmrtí z hlediska maligních nádorů. Vyskytuje se hlavně u mužů starších padesáti let a s přibývajícím věkem jedince se incidence onemocnění zvyšuje. Nemocný může být vyléčen, pokud je nádor zachycen v počátečních stádiích. Mužům se tudíž doporučuje, aby pravidelně podstupovali lékařská vyšetření. Cílem práce bylo zjistit použitím dotazníkové metody všeobecnou informovanost mužské populace různých věkových skupin o problematice karcinomu prostaty a možnostech jeho prevence. Metodika a výsledky: Zkoumaný soubor nezdravotnické mužské populace, rozdělený na mladší muže (20?49 let) a starší muže (50?79 let), zahrnoval 186 respondentů. Předpokládalo se, že starší muži budou lépe informováni než mladší muži. Z průzkumu však vyplynulo, že znalosti obou skupin jsou na stejné úrovni (mezi mladšími a staršími muži nebyl zjištěn statisticky významný rozdíl) a celkově jsou nedostatečné. Na základě bodového hodnocení obdržely obě skupiny průměrně stejný počet bodů ? pouze 10,3 bodů z celkových 28. Průzkum ukázal, že 76 % mladších mužů a 68 % starších mužů ví, že výskyt rakoviny prostaty s přibývajícím věkem narůstá. Pouze 2 % respondentů správně označila rasové vlivy, 4 % geografické vlivy a 23 % větší konzumaci živočišných tuků jako rizikový faktor vzniku rakoviny prostaty, 22 % nevědělo, že věk patří k rizikovým faktorům. Z průzkumu vyplynulo, že 33 % mladších mužů a 23 % starších mužů ví, která věková skupina mužů je riziková ke vzniku onemocnění. Jako možnou prevenci onemocnění pouze 27 % respondentů uvedlo zdravý životní styl, 27 % kontroly u lékaře a 15 % pohybovou aktivitu. Zjistilo se, že respondenti jsou poměrně dobře informováni v otázce ?co je prostata?, v trendu výskytu rakoviny prostaty dle věku a v možnosti vyléčení onemocnění. Naproti tomu jsou respondenti slabě informováni o rizikových faktorech, rizikových skupinách mužů a příznacích nemoci, četnosti výskytu nemoci (u této otázky lépe informováni starší muži). Mnoho respondentů chybovalo v otázkách týkajících se prevence a zanedbává pravidelnou návštěvu lékaře při preventivních prohlídkách. Výsledky průzkumu ukázaly na nutnost zlepšit informovanost mužské populace o příznacích rakoviny prostaty a zejména o významu preventivních prohlídek pro časnou diagnostiku a léčbu tohoto onemocnění. K vyšší informovanosti by jistě přispěly informační kampaně a větší rozšíření informačních letáků do čekáren a ordinací lékařů.

Abstract:

Introduction: Prostate cancer in the Czech Republic is the most common cancer among men and is the third leading cause of death in the viewpoint of malignant tumors. It occurs mainly in men population over fifty years. The incidence of disease increases as men grow older. The patient can be cured if the tumor is detected in its early stages. Men are therefore advised to undergo regular medical examinations. The aim of this work was to find out a general awareness of the male population of different age groups about the prostate cancer and its prevention by using a questionnaire method. Methodology and results: The sample of population of non-medical men, divided into younger men (20?49 years) and older men (50?79 years), included 186 respondents. It has been suggested that older men are better informed than younger men. However, the survey showed that knowledge of both groups are on the same level (between younger and older men, there was not a statistically significant difference) and generally insufficient. Both groups received the same number of points based on scoring average ? only 10.3 points out of 28th overall. The survey showed that 76 % of younger men and 68 % of older men know that the incidence of prostate cancer increases with age. Only 2 % of respondents correctly identified racial influences, 4 % geographical influences and 23 % higher consumption of animal fat as a risk factor for prostate cancer, 22 % did not know that age is a risk factor. The survey showed that 33 % of younger men and 23 % of older men know which age group of men is the risk of developing the disease. As a possible prevention of disease, only 27 % of respondents reported a healthy lifestyle, 27 % of the control of physicians and 15 % physical activity. It was found that the respondents are relatively well informed about the issue of "what is the prostate, in the prostate cancer incidence trends by age and the possibility of curing the disease. In contrast, respondents are poorly informed about risk factors, risk groups, men and symptoms of illness, frequency of occurrence of the disease (the older men are better informed in this issue). Many respondents had erred in matters relating to the prevention and neglect regular doctor visits for preventive screenings. The survey results showed the need to improve awareness of the male population of the symptoms of prostate cancer and in particular the importance of preventive examinations for early diagnosis and treatment of this disease. An information campaigns and extension of a leaflets in waiting rooms and doctors offices would help to better awareness of the public.
