Provision of Social Services to Individuals with Huntington´s Disease within the Territory of the Zlín Region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na pohled osob s diagnózou Huntingtonovi nemoci na sociální služby poskytované na území Zlínského kraje. Huntingtonova nemoc patří mezi opomíjená vzácná onemocnění spadající do skupiny demencí. Teoretická část se zabývá specifickými znaky onemocnění, jedinečným postavením osob s Huntingtonovou nemocí ve společnosti v České republice i v zahraničí. Pojednává o organizacích zabývajících se problematikou těchto osob. V České republice to jsou především výstupy Společnosti pro pomoc při Huntingtonově chorobě a využity jsou rovněž zkušenosti zahraničních organizací. Poukázáno je na hlavní aktéry sociální politiky ve vztahu k zajištění podpory osobám s Huntingtonovou nemocí, zejména pak na sociální služby. Na základě vymezení teoretických východisek zkoumané problematiky předkládá diplomová práce empirický kvalitativně orientovaný výzkum, kterému předchází zmapování osob se zmiňovanou diagnózou, za účelem zjištění jejich počtu a struktury v sociálních službách působících ve Zlínském kraji. Cílem praktické části je hodnocení sociálních služeb z pohledu osob s Huntingtonovou nemocí. Provedený výzkum je zaměřen na zjišťování osobních zkušeností jednotlivých uživatelů s HN na poskytování sociálních služeb na území Zlínského kraje.

Abstract:

This thesis is aimed to the view of people with Huntington´s disease considering to the social services on the territory of Zlin region. Huntington's disease is one of the overlooked rare disease which belongs to the group of dementia diseases. The theoretical part deals with the specific features of the disease, as well as the unigque status of people with Huntington's disease in society, not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The thesis refers about organizations dealing with these people. There are usually outputs intended for Association for Assistance in Huntington´s disease in the Czech Republic and we use also experiences of foreign organizations. We point at the main actors in social policy with regard to provision of support to people with Huntington´s disease, especially to social services. Based on the definition of the theoretical background the thesis presents empirical qualitatively oriented research, preceded by mapping people with this diagnosis and in order to determine their number and structure of the social services operating in the Zlin Region. The aim of the practical part is the evaluation of social services from the perspective of people with Huntington´s disease. The research is focused on recognition of the personal experience of individuals with Huntington´s disease and to the provision of social services in the territory of the Zlin Region.
