Anotace:

The aim of this thesis is to provide a brief insight into the historical and political development of India some time before and some time after the independence as reflected in Salman Rusdhie`s Midnight`s Children. This thesis compares the historical factc with the 'facts' depicted in Midnight`s Children as well as it describes and examines the features of post-colonial literatures. It focuses primarily on the difficulty in finding one`s identity and problems of self-determination of the Indians.
