Conservative and post-surgical treatment of muscle and ligament injuries in an amateur football player: case report

Abstract:

Anterior cruciate ligament injury is a traumatic event that occurs in many kinds of sport. Football is often engaged in accelerations, decelerations, jumps, landings, changes of direction, twisting movements, and in various movements aimed at kicking the ball. For this reason, the risk of injury is very high in athletes who practice this sport. When a patient suffers an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the therapeutic approach can be of two types: one conservative and one surgical. The patient undergoes a series of physiotherapy sessions. The following thesis examines the clinical case of a 20 years old patient with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Physiotherapy treatment was characterized by the achievement of short and long term goals. At the end of the achievement of the initially desired results, the patient was subjected to some preventive physiotherapy sessions, aimed at protecting the subject from the appearance of subsequent traumas caused by relapses.

Abstract:

La lesione del legamento crociato anteriore (LCA) e? un evento traumatico molto diffusone in diverse discipline sportive. Visto che lo sportivo che pratica il gioco del calcio ? spesso impegnato in accelerazioni, decelerazioni, balzi, atterraggi, cambi di direzione, movimenti torcenti, ed in varie movenze finalizzate a calciare il pallone, risulta comprensibile come il rischio di incorrere in un infortunio di questo tipo sia molto elevato negli atleti che praticano questo sport. Quando un paziente subisce la lesione del legamento crociato anteriore l'approccio terapeutico pu? essere di due tipologie: una conservativa ed una chirurgica. Il paziente soggetto alla lesione del legamento crociato anteriore deve sottoporsi ad una serie di sedute di fisioterapia. All'interno di questo elaborato di tesi sar? descritto il caso clinico di un paziente di 20 anni con lesione a carico del legamento crociato anteriore. L'obiettivo della tesi sar? quello di elaborare un trattamento fisioterapico caratterizzato dal conseguimento di obiettivi a breve e lungo termine. Al termine del raggiungimento dei risultati auspicati inizialmente, il paziente ? stato sottoposto ad alcune sedute di fisioterapia preventiva, finalizzate a tutelare il soggetto dalla comparsa di successivi traumi provocati da recidive.
