The impact of English on Czech pupils learning German

Abstract:

The bachelor´s thesis deals with the topic of German as a second foreign language after the first foreign language English so-called constellation "German after English". The main topic ot the bachelor´s thesis is the impact of English (L2) as the first foreign language on Czech pupils learning German (L3) as their second foreign language. The aim of the work is to compare both foreign languages from the point of view of various language aspects and to focus on the phenomena that make third language acquisition on the one hand easier and on the other more difficult.The theoretic part of the Bachelor´s thesis summarises terms that belong to foreign language teaching and to the term of multilinguality.In the empirical part both foreign languages are compared from the points of view which are relevant to the learners, who learn German as their second foreign language L3. On the basis of this research are here mentioned the most common interference mistakes in German (L3) resulting from learners´ English knowledge.In the empirical part are designed exercises to remove the most common mistakes caused by the above mentioned combination of foreign languages: German after English.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá německého jazyka jako druhého cizího jazyka tedy tzv. konstelací "němčina po angličtině" u českých žáků. Hlavním tématem bakalářské práce je vliv prvního cizího jazyka tedy anglického jazyka (L2) na německý jazyk (L3) jakožto druhý cizí jazyk. Cílem práce je porovnat oba cizí jazyky v oblasti různých jazykových rovin, a zaměřit se na jevy, které usnadňují učení se druhému cizímu jazyku nebo tento proces naopak ztěžují. Teoretická část bakalářské práce shrnuje pojmy, které souvisí s výukou cizích jazyků a pojmem mnohojazyčnosti. Praktická část práce se zaměřuje na porovnání obou cizích jazyků z hlediska různých jazykových rovin, které jsou relevantní pro studenty, kteří se učí němčinu jako L3 tedy druhý cizí jazyk. Na základě výzkumu jsou zde uvedeny nejčastější interferenční chyby v němčině (L3) ovlivněné znalostí angličtiny. Součástí praktické části práce jsou cvičení navržená k odstranění nejčastějších interferenčních chyb, které jsou způsobené výše uvedenou kombinací cizích jazyků: němčina po angličtině.
