Processing of Cytological Specimens in the Laboratory

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá širokou problematikou cytologických odběrů, jejich laboratorního zpracování a okrajově hodnocením cytologických preparátů. První část zahrnuje teorii cytologie se zaměřením na detailní popis buňky. Dále jsou zde popsána základní pravidla odběrů cytologického materiálu a největší pozornost je věnovaná kapitole zpracování materiálu. Malá kapitola je věnována hodnocení cytologických preparátů. Praktická část obsahuje statistická zpracování chybovosti Ústavu patologie Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava za tříleté období a spektrum vyšetřovaného materiálu za poslední dva roky. Největší část práce je zaměřená na analytickou fázi, na detailní zpracování cytologického materiálu v laboratoři a související problematiku. Výsledkem práce je popis možných chyb během analytické fáze a stanovení preventivních postupů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with broad issues of cytological sampling, their laboratory processing and marginally evaluating of cytological preparations. The first part includes the theory of cytology with focusing on the detailed description of the cells. There are also described the basic rules of cytological material donations and the greatest attention is devoted to the chapter of material processing. A small section is devoted to evaluation of cytological preparations. The practical part contains a statistical processing errors of The Institute of Pathology, University Hospital in Ostrava for the three-year period and the spectrum of the investigated material in last two years. The biggest part is focused on the analytical phase and on the detailed processing of cytological material in the laboratory and related issues. The results of this thesis are a description of possible errors during the analysis phase and the establishment of preventive procedures.
