Communication between Paramedics and Physicians in Pre-hospital Care

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je komunikace mezi zdravotnickým záchranářem a lékařem v přednemocniční péči. Teoretická část práce blíže rozebírá pojmy komunikace, přednemocniční péče, komunikace v přednemocniční péči, telemedicína. Popisuje organizaci zdravotnické záchranné služby a činnosti zdravotnického záchranáře při poskytování přednemocniční péče. Poukazuje na specifika komunikace zdravotnického záchranáře a lékaře v přednemocniční péči s důrazem na jejich komunikaci při výjezdu RZP. Zabývá se vhodností písemné standardizace této komunikace a jejím ovlivněním novými telemedicínskými metodami. Praktická část práce je průzkum provedený kvalitativní metodou pomocí jedenácti strukturovaných rozhovorů se zdravotnickými záchranáři a lékaři ZZS Středočeského kraje výjezdové základny Příbram. Cílem je zmapovat vzájemnou komunikaci zdravotnických záchranářů a lékařů ZZS při výjezdu posádky RZP a které faktory ji ovlivňují. Dále zjistit postoje zdravotnických záchranářů a lékařů k písemnému zpracování standardů této komunikace a k použití nových komunikačních technologií při výjezdu posádky RZP. Ze získaných zpracovaných rozhovorů vyplývá, že zdravotničtí záchranáři i lékaři této základny jsou spokojeni se stávající telefonickou komunikací při výjezdu RZP, že lékařům postačují informace záchranáři podávané a záchranáři nemají problém s popisováním situace. Zpracování písemných standardů dle nich není třeba a jejich postoj k novým telekomunikačním technologiím je kladný, byť zatím za jejich vrchol považují chytré mobilní telefony a tablety.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the communication between paramedics and physicians in pre-hospital care. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis analyses concepts of communication, pre-hospital emergency care, communication in pre-hospital emergency care, telemedicine. It describes the organization of the emergency medical service and the activities of the paramedic in providing of pre-hospital care. It points out the specific areas of communication between paramedics and physicians with the emphasis upon their communication during the departure of the EMS crew. It deals with the suitability of written standardization of this communication and its influence by new telemedicine methods. The practical part of this bachelor thesis is the research performed by the usage of qualitative methods that was conducted in the form of structured interviews with paramedics and physicians of the EMS Příbram. The aim is to map the communication between paramedics an emergency medical service physicians during the departure of the EMS crew and by what factors is influenced. Furthermore, to find out the attitude of paramedics and physicians to the written elaboration of the communication standard and to use new communication technologies during the departure of the EMS crew. The processed interviews and data revealed that paramedics and physicians of this base are satisfied with the existing telephone communication during the departure of the EMS crew. The research also shows that physicians have enough information provided by paramedics and paramedics have no problem describing the situation. There is no need of the written elaboration of the communication standard and their attitude towards new communication technologies is positive, however they consider smart mobile phones and tablets their peak-rate.
