The need to determine the frequency of urodynamics in patients suffering from the lower urinary tract dysfunction due to multiple sclerosis

Abstract:

Dizertační práce se zabývá problematikou neurogenně podmíněných dysfunkcí dolních cest močových (DMC) u pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou (RS). Výsledky 6 leté prospektivní studie poskytují důkaz o tom, že pacienti s dysfunkcemi DMC z důvodu RS jsou z urodynamického hlediska v určitých parametrech signifikantně odlišní od skupiny pacientů s jiným neurologickým postižením. Proto by se mělo na tyto pacienty trpící dysfunkcemi DMC nahlížet jako na samostatnou skupinu neurogenních dysfunkcí, která vyžaduje častější frekvenci sledování ve srovnání s obecným doporučením Evropské urologické asociace.

Abstract:

The dissertation deals with neurologic dysfunction of the lower urinary tract (LUT) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Results of a 6-year prospective study provide evidence that patients with dysfunctions of LUT as a result of MS in terms of urodynamics are different from the group of patients with other neurological disabilities. Therefore, patients suffering from dysfunctions of LUT should be regarded as a separate group with neurogenic dysfunctions, which requires more frequent monitoring in comparison with the recommendations of the European association of urology.
