Sociocultural differences from the children's perspective

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozmanitostí sociokulturních skupin a zároveň postoji k těmto skupinám u žáků základních škol. Teoretická část práce obsahuje základní pojmy, jejichž znalost je zásadní pro naplnění cílů předkládaného výzkumného šetření. Těmito pojmy jsou především kultura a její rozmanitost, nastínění důležitosti multikulturní výchovy a také rozbor pojmu sociokulturní skupina a s ní spojené znevýhodnění. Pozornost je věnována také postojům a možnostmi jejich ovlivňování. Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak se žáci 8. a 9. tříd základních škol staví k různým projevům sociokulturní odlišnosti. Dílčím cílem je potom porovnání jejich konativní složky postojů s jejich znalostmi o daných sociokulturních skupinách. Výzkum byl prováděn dotazníkovou formou a to na dvou vybraných základních školách. V závěru práce je naznačena možnost využít zpracované výsledky pro praxi v multikulturní výchově na školách s cílem zvýšit povědomí a tím také pozitivně ovlivňovat míru tolerance k jednotlivým sociokulturním skupinám.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the diversity of the sociocultural groups and at the same time with the attitudes of primary school pupils towards these groups. The theoretical part of the work contains the basic terms whose knowledge is essential to fulfil the objectives of the research survey presented. Among these notions are primarily culture and its diversity, outline of importance of multicultural education and also analysis of the concept of sociocultural group and its inherent disadvantages. Attention is also paid to attitudes and possibilities of their influencing. The objective of the bachelor thesis is to reveal the stances adopted by pupils of the 8th and 9th classes on various manifestations of sociocultural distinction. Partial goal of the work is to compare the conative component of their attitudes with their knowledge on the given sociocultural groups. The research was conducted with the aid of questionnaires in two selected primary schools. In conclusion, possibilities of making use of the elaborated results in practice, especially in multicultural education are outlined. Our findings may offer some ideas how to increase the awareness and this way influence positively the rate of tolerance for the individual sociocultural groups.
