Moriz von Ebner-Eschenbachand chateau music culture in Lysice

Abstract:

Rakouský šlechtic Moriz von Ebner-Eschenbach byl vojákem, vynálezcem, vědcem, cestovatelem, spisovatelem a také hudebním skladatelem. Jeho kompozice jsou uloženy na zámku v Lysicích na jižní Moravě. Z katalogizace veškerého notového materiálu je zřejmé, že v lysickém zámku se pěstoval především salonní typ komorní hudby. Tyto domácí salóny Moriz obohatil sbírkou valčíků typicky vídeňského stylu a písněmi na texty předních německých a rakouských básníků (také své ženy Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach). Z rozboru těchto písní je patrný vliv Franze Schuberta. Na rozdíl od něj Moriz staví klavír pouze jako doprovodnou funkci textu a přiklání se k tradici lidové písňové tvorby. Morizova hudební tvorba byla představena českému i rakouskému publiku v rámci projektu ESCHENBACH TEMPORIS ET LOCI, který jsme realizovali v roce 2010.

Abstract:

The Austrian nobleman Moriz von Ebner-Eschenbach was a soldier, inventor, scientist, traveller, writer and also a composer. His compositions are filed at the chateau in Lysice in Southern Moravia. According to the music catalog it is obvious, that especially the salon type of chamber music had been cultivated in the chateau of Lysice. Moriz enriched these salon music by the collection of waltzes of typical Viennese style and songs on texts by leading Austrian and German poets (also his wife Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach). It is obvious from the analysis of Moriz’s songs, that Franz Schubert had empact on him. Unlike him, Moriz places the piano only as an accompanying function to the text and he favours the tradition of folk song works. Moriz’s compositions was introduced to the Czech and Austrian audience on the occasion of the project ESCHENBACH TEMPORIS ET LOCI which we organized und realized in 2010.
