Specifics of Communication in Pre-Hospital Care with a Patient Diagnosed with Autism

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaobírá specifickým přístupem k pacientovi s diagnózu PAS (poruchy autistického spektra) v PNP, kdy diagnóza PAS není primární příčinou výjezdu ZZS, ale pravděpodobnou komplikací zásahu. Práce vysvětluje a popisuje PAS, zmiňuje jeho definice a škálování, hovoří o aktuálních vědeckých poznatcích a obecně shrnuje přístup k léčbě. Akcentuje komunikaci jako základní prvek kontaktu s osobami s PAS a na komunikaci se zaměřuje i ve své základní části, ve které zpracovává průzkum provedený v rodinách osob s PAS zaměřený na specifika vyšetřování, hledá ideální postup, jakým by posádka ZZS měla k pacientovi přistupovat, aby zefektivnila zásah, přičemž bude mít stále v patrnosti maximální ohled na limitaci pacienta. Práce byla vytvořena ve spolupráci s odborníky pracujícími s osobami s diagnózou PAS, s užitím rozhovorů s rodiči dětí s PAS i dětmi s lidmi s PAS. Na základě zpracovaných sérii odpovědí a doporučení vznikl návod pro správný přístup k pacientovi s PAS: od samotné komunikace, přes řeč těla, až po neobvyklé metody nepřímé komunikace. Bakalářská práce ve svém závěru jasně a stručně prezentuje všechna doporučení pro pracovníky ZZS pomoci PAS Karty.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a specific approach to the patient with a diagnosis of ASD (autistics spectrum disorder) in the pre-hospital care, where the diagnosis of ASD is not the primary cause of the emergency ambulance call, but a likely complication of the intervention. The thesis explains and describes ASD, mentions its definitions and scaling, discusses current scientific evidence, and generally summarizes the approach to treatment. It emphasizes communication as an essential element of contact with persons with ASD, and focuses on communication as such, in which it elaborates on a survey conducted in families of persons with ASD, focusing on the specifics of the medical examination, looking for the ideal way in which the emergency medical services (EMS) crew should approach the patient to make the intervention more effective, while keeping in mind the patient's limitations. The work was developed in collaboration with professionals working with people diagnosed with ASD, using interviews with parents of children with ASD and people with ASD. Based on the elaborated series of answers and recommendations, a guide for the correct approach to the ASD patient was created: from communication itself, to body language, to unusual methods of indirect communication. In its conclusion, the thesis clearly and concisely presents all the recommendations for the staff of the Emergency staff to help using “ASD Card” (“PAS” in Czech).
