Transformation of rebel movements in the democratization process

Abstract:

Magisterská práce se zabývá zkoumáním vztahu mezi transformací povstaleckých skupin a procesem demokratisace. Hlavním cílem práce je se ptát, zda je transformace povstalecké skupiny nezbytným faktorem pro úspěch procesu demokratisace a tedy zda neschopnost povstalecké skupiny změnit se na politickou stranu či funkčního aktéra politického prostředí znemožňuje tento proces. V rámci výzkumu je snaha nalézt odpovědi na otázky, jakým způsobem neúspěšná transformace ovlivňuje proces demokratisace, jestli naplnění určitých rysů úspěšné transformace dle definice de Zeeuwa vede k podpoře demokratizačního procesu a jakými způsoby se projevuje vliv takových faktorů, jako je mezinárodní prostředí. Pomocí zvolené metody komparativní případové studie jsou na základě makrokauzální analýzy zkoumány a komparovány vybrané případy, jež mají nastolené otázky pomoci zodpovědět.

Abstract:

Master's thesis deals with the relationship between the transformation of rebel groups and the process of democratization. The main objective of the work is to ask whether it is the transformation of rebel groups an essential factor for the success of the democratisation process and therefore, whether the inability of rebel groups to change the political party or of a functional actor of the political environment makes it impossible for this process. In the framework of the research is an effort to find answers to the questions of how unsuccessful transformation affects the process of democratization, if the fulfillment of certain features of successful transformation according to the definition of de Zeeuwa leads to the promotion of the democratisation proces and in what ways is the influence of such factors, as the international environment is. Used is the method of comparative case studies. On the basis of macrocausal analysis are investigated and compared selected cases. They are there to help answer questions.
