Anotácia:

Hlavním cílem této práce je identifikace, charakterizace a rozbor nejvýznamnějších námětů objevujících se v románu The Secret History od Donny Tartt. Zároveň je také poskytnut kontext, jež má za účel objasnit literární a stylistická rozhodnutí učiněná autorkou. Nadále tato práce zobrazuje, jak tyto znázorněné charakteristiky tvoří základní prvky žánru Dark Academia, a jak jsou tyto prvky dále využívány a reprezentovány v dalších konkrétních dílech vzniklých nebo považovaných za součást tohoto daného žánru.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to analyze Donna Tartt’s The Secret History and to identify and characterize its most prominent and influential themes. Context is provided to help to understand and contextualize Tartt’s literary and stylistic choices. It then shows how those depicted themes establish the basic principles of the Dark Academia genre and how they are further used and represented in other specific literary works created or deemed to belong within the genre.
