Colour Music

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o možných vztazích mezi výtvarným uměním a hudbou a o jejich vývoji. Představuje první nástroje barevné hudby a zásadní teoretické výzkumy provedené v této oblasti. Rozebírá různé přístupy k barevné hudbě a způsoby práce s ní. Druhá část této práce je věnována dvěma českým umělcům a jejich hudebně barevné tvorbě z dvacátých let 20. století. Prvním je Zdeněk Pešánek, který klade důraz na čistě technické spojení výtvarné a hudební stránky jeho barevných klavírů. Jako odlišný příklad způsobu práce s barevnou hudbou je zde uvedeno dílo hudebního skladatele a výtvarníka Miroslava Ponce tvořícího intuitivně na základě vnitřních představ spojitostí barev a tónů.

Abstract:

In this work I write about possible relations between art and music, as well as about their development. It introduces first instruments of colour music and some foundational theoretical works done in this research area. I analyze various conceptions of colour music and various ways of doing it. In the second part of my work I focus on two Czech artists doing colour music in the twenties. The first one is Zdeněk Pešánek who emphasizes strictly technical connection of artistic and musical aspects of his colour pianos. The opposite example of a conception of colour music is the work of a composer and an artist Miroslav Ponc which was based on his imaginative connections between the colours and the tones.
