Experience of psychotherapists working with clients with gambling

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje prožitku terapeuta při psychoterapii s klientem s patologickým hráčstvím. Teoretická část shrnuje relevantní témata vážící se k předmětu práce, jako je patologické hráčství, jeho psychoterapie a prožívání psychoterapeuta. V praktické části je pak prožitek terapeuta a způsob zvládání jeho prožitku zkoumán kvalitativního způsobem – metodou zakotvené teorie. Z rozhovorů s terapeuty, jež se věnují práci s klientem s patologickým hráčstvím, bylo pomocí analýzy vytvořeno šest kategorií a schéma. Centrální kategorií je „Kontakt s prožitkem“, která vypovídá o terapeutově zacházení s prožitkem v terapii. Schéma se věnuje vysvětlení vztahů mezi jednotlivými kategoriemi, popisuje jak terapeut za pomoci svých zdrojů podpory a role mimoterapeutického kontextu přichází do kontaktu se svým prožitkem a volí různé způsoby jeho zvládání, které pak dále ovlivňují průběh terapie.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the experience of the therapist during psychotherapy with clients with pathological gambling. The first part of thesis summarizes relevant topics pertaining to the subject of work, such as pathological gambling, its psychotherapy and experience of psychotherapists with such a client. The experience of the therapist and ways of coping with the experience is studied by qualitative method - the method of grounded theory. Six categories and schema have been developed from interviews with therapists who take care of the clients with pathological gambling. Central category is „Contact with experience ", which refers the ways of working with experience of therapist in the therapy. The scheme explains relationships between categories, describes how the therapist, using their resources, support, and the role of extra-therapy environment, comes into contact with his experience and chooses different ways of coping, which in turn influence the course of therapy.
