Lexical Particularities of French Used in Switzerland

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the lexical differences between the French used in the francophone part of Switzerland and metropolitan French. The first chapter of the theoretical part concentrates on the presentation of the already mentionned country, more specifically on its geographic situation, administrative division and language situation. The following chapter is focused on the differences in the vocabulary used by the speakers in Switzerland and in France. The practical part is constituted by the questionnaire whose respondents are mostly the students of French at university or at high school. This questionnaire contains 2 general questions, concerning the type and the duration of studies, and 8 questions focused on the understanding of typically Swiss words. The last group of respondents is represented by inhabitants of the francophone part of Switzerland.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá lexikálními odlišnostmi mezi francouzštinou užívanou ve frankofonní části Švýcarska a metropolitní francouzštinou. První kapitola teoretické části se soustředí na prezentaci již zmíněné země, konkrétněji na její geografickou situaci, administrativní rozdělení a situaci jazykovou. Následující kapitola je zaměřena na rozdíly ve slovní zásobě užívané mluvčími ve Švýcarsku a ve Francii. Praktická část je tvořena dotazníkem, jehož respondenty jsou převážně studenti francouzského jazyka na univerzitě nebo na gymnáziu. Tento dotazník obsahuje 2 otázky obecné, týkající se typu a délky studia, a 8 otázek zaměřených na porozumění typicky švýcarským slovům. Poslední skupina respondentů je zastoupena obyvateli frankofonní části Švýcarska.
