Lower extremity coordination in athletes with history of Achilles tendon rupture during running

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo srovnat koordinaci a koordinační variabilitu dolní končetiny u deseti probandů s historii ruptury Achillovy šlachy (experimentální skupina) s deseti kontrolními probandi při běhu rychlostí 3.2 m/s. Pro určení koordinace a koordinační variability dolních končetin jsme použili metodu Modified vector coding. Předpokládali jsme, že se koordinace a koordinační variabilita dolní končetiny bude mezi skupinami probandů lišit, což se nám potvrdilo. Zjistili jsme, že u experimentální skupiny se segmenty pohybují v nesouhlasné fázi oproti kontrolní skupině. Pohyby segmentů v nesouhlasné fázi mohou být spojovány se zvýšeným rizikem zranění. Navíc jsme zjistili, že koordinační variabilita mezi stehnem-bércem a bércem-nohou byla vyšší u probandů s historii ruptury Achillovy šlachy. Výsledky této studie mohou poskytnout informace důležité pro snížení rizika zranění.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to compare the coordination and coordination variability of the lower extremity in the group of ten individuals with history of Achilles tendon rupture (experimental group) and ten healthy subject (control group) during running at the speed 3.2 m/s. We conducted studies using a modified vector coding approach to investigate the coordination and coordination variability of lower extremity. We hypothesized that the coordination and the coordination variability of the lower extremity would be different between groups. We have found that experimental group displayed anti-phase coordination patterns in comparison with control groups. The anti-phase coordination may be associated with increased risk to injuring. Furthermore, the coordination variability for thigh-shank and shank-foot movement was higher in individuals with history of Achilles tendon rupture. The results in this study could provide the information necessary for reduce the risk of injury.
