Comparison of methods for debridement of chronic wounds - maggot therapy versus therapeutic coverage

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá chronickými ranami a jejich složitým procesem hojení. Zaměřuje se na débridement, jako základní součást léčby chronických ran, kdy po jeho provedení lze očekávat nastartování hojivých procesů. Teoretická část obsahuje informace o anatomii a fyziologii kůže, typech chronických ran a fázích hojení. Popisuje débridement chronických ran a detailně se zabývá jeho provedením pomocí terapeutického krytí a larvální terapií. Závěr teoretické části práce se věnuje roli všeobecné sestry v péči o pacienty s chronickou ránou a edukaci. Výzkumná část zjišťuje u pacientů s chronickou ránou léčených terapeutickým krytím nebo larvální terapií dobu débridementu, finanční náklady na materiál, spokojenost a bolest během léčby. Výsledky obou metod jsou zde porovnávány a prezentovány v grafech a tabulkách. Praktickým výstupem práce je vytvoření edukačního materiálu pro pacienty léčené larvální terapií.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with chronic wounds and their complicated healing process. It focuses on debridement as basic part of the treatment of chronic wounds, after which the start of the healing processes can be expected. Theoretical part includes information about anatomy and physiology of skin, types of chronic wounds and stages of healing. It describes debridement of chronic wounds and includes in depth description of it using a therapeutic coverage and a maggot therapy. Conclusion of the theoretical part is dedicated to a role of a general nurse in a care of a pacient with chronic wound and to an education. The research part is looking into the time of debridement, financial expenses for material, satisfaction of the patients and pain during healing of a patient with chronic wounds and complex process of healing. Results of both methods are compared and presented in graphs and charts. Practical output of the thesis is creating instructional material for patients treated with the maggot therapy.
