The Evaluation of Women's Quality of Life Following Mastectomy Using the Breast-Q Questionnaire

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá hodnocením kvality života žen po mastektomii pomocí dotazníku Breast-Q. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, jakou kvalitu života mají ženy po mastektomii, zda existuje rozdíl v kvalitě života u žen před operačním výkonem a po operačním výkonu, a na kterou z posuzovaných oblastí dotazníku Breast-Q má mastektomie největší dopad. Teoretická část práce popisuje nádorové onemocnění prsu, možnosti léčby, způsoby provedení mastektomie, kvalitu života a nástroje, kterými lze kvalitu života měřit. Výzkumná část práce zpracovává data nasbírána pomocí kvantitativního standardizovaného dotazníku Breast-Q od pacientek připravovaných k mastektomii a po mastektomii. Výsledky dotazníku jsou porovnány s jinými pracemi a studiemi, které se zabývají tímto tématem.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on assessing the quality of life of women after mastectomy using the Breast-Q questionnaire. The main objective of the thesis was to determine the quality of life of women after mastectomy, whether there is a difference in quality of life among women before and after the surgical procedure, and to identify which of the evaluated areas of the Breast-Q questionnaire has the greatest impact on mastectomy. The theoretical part of the thesis describes breast cancer, treatment options, methods of mastectomy, quality of life, and tools for measuring quality of life. The research section of the thesis processes data collected using the quantitative standardized Breast-Q questionnaire from patients undergoing mastectomy and those who have undergone mastectomy. The questionnaire results are compared with other works and studies dealing with this topic.
