Comparative analysis of European National Convention Bureaus

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zhodnocení evropských národních Convention Bureaus v kontextu jejich fungování a jejich způsobu propagování kongresové destinace. Tohoto cíle je dosaženo pomocí komparativní analýzy Convention Bureaus vybraných šestnácti evropských zemí, které byly pro účely diplomové práce zvoleny na základě několika faktorů. Informace o Convention Bureaus byly získány kontaktováním a komunikací se zástupci jednotlivých agentur a z veřejně dostupných webových stránek. Dílčími cíli práce jsou kategorie, které se zabývají cíli, funkcemi, marketingovými aktivitami, způsoby vzdělávání a lokální podpory organizátorů a členů jednotlivých Convention Bureaus. Všechny vybraná Convention Bureaus jsou vzájemně porovnávána v jednotlivých kategoriích. V závěru práce jsou poté zvolené kategorie zhodnoceny a na jejich základě jsou zhodnoceny odlišné principy fungování Convention Bureaus a způsoby propagace destinace. Diplomová práce může sloužit Czech Convention Bureau jako průzkum trhu jejich nejvýznamnějších a nejpodobnějších konkurentů a zároveň může být využita jako inspirace k tvorbě webových stránek a restrukturalizaci ke které právě teď v Czech Convention Bureau dochází.

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis is to evaluate the European National Convention Bureaus in the context of their functioning and their unique ways of promoting their congress destination. This goal is achieved through a comparative analysis of Convention Bureaus of sixteen European countries. These countries were selected on the basis of several crucial factors and specially for the purposes of this thesis. Author of this master thesis contacted representatives of selected Convention Bureaus and collected necessary data to identify each Convention Bureau. The partial goals of this master thesis are individual categories that describe their goals, functions, marketing activities, methods of education and local support of congress organizers and members of each Convention Bureaus. All selected Convention Bureaus are compared separately in all categories. The results of comparative analysis are evaluated at the end of this master thesis. Based on evaluation of each category were defined principles of operation and types of marketing activities used by Convention Bureaus to promote their destination. This master thesis can be used by Czech Convention Bureau as a market research of their most important and most similar competitors. It can also be used as a source of inspiration for them since Czech Convention Bureau is going through restructuring at the moment.
