The impact of the covid-19 pandemic on health service utilization in healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the use of healthcare in healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic. The aim of the work is to use administrative data to evaluate the impact on receiving of selected healthcare services recorded weekly in the period 2018-2021. The first part of the work provides an overview of the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the use of health services in other countries. The next part is the analysis of Czech data on the utilization of elective and acute health care. The analysis was carried out by means of Joinpoint regression, which divides the time series into segments by finding the optimal number and position of breakpoints - joinpoints. Joinpoints represent points of trend change in the time series. The increase or decrease is quantified by weekly percentage change (WPC). During the pandemic, a decrease in the use of almost every analyzed healthcare service was detected. Preventive and elective procedures were affected more significantly than others. Changes in trends reflected the current spread of the disease and the degree of restrictions in the Czech Republic.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem pandemie COVID-19 na využívání zdravotní starostlivosti v zdravotnických zařízeních České republiky. Cílem práce je pomocí administrativních dat vyhodnotit rozsah tohoto dopadu na čerpání zvolených týdenně vykazovaných výkonů v období 2018-2021. První část práce poskytuje přehled vývoje pandemie COVID-19 a jejího dopadu na využívání zdravotních služeb v zahra-ničí. Další částí je analýza českých dat čerpání elektivní a akutní zdravotní starostlivosti. Analýza byla realizována prostřednictvím Joinpoint regrese, která dělí časovou řadu na segmenty nalezením optimálního počtu a polohy bodů zlomů – joinpointů. Joinpointy představují místa změny trendu v časové řadě. Nárůst či pokles je kvanti-fikován týdenní procentuální změnou (WPC). V období pandemie byl zjištěn pokles ve využívání téměř každého analyzovaného výkonu. Preventivní a elektivní výkony byly ovlivněny významněji než ostatní. Změny v trendech reflektovaly aktuální šíření onemocnění a míru opatření v ČR.
