Injuries of motocross riders and their experience with indication for occupational therapy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o úrazech v motokrosu a zaměřuje se na možnosti ergoterapeutické intervence u jednotlivých úrazu způsobených tímto sportem. Cílem této práce je pomocí anketního šetření zjistit, jaké úrazy se nejčastěji vyskytují u motokrosových jezdců a kolika jezdcům byla následně indikována ergoterapie. V teoretické části se shromažďují informace o motokrosu, ochranném vybavení jezdců a vlivu motokrosu na lidský organismus. Dále na základě zahraničních studií je sestaven výčet a charakteristiku úrazů, které se nejčastěji vyskytují u motokrosových jezdců. V této části je popsáno poranění hlavy, páteře, horních i dolních končetin a v neposlední řadě i poranění vnitřních orgánů. V poslední kapitole jsou také pospané možnosti ergoterapeutické intervence u daných úrazů. V praktické části je sestaveno anketní šetření pro motokrosové jezdce, jehož cílem je zmapovat četnost úrazů u respondentů, informace o zranění a jejich následném setkání s ergoterapií. Z analýzy anketního šetření je patrné, že nejčastěji jezdci motokrosu utrpí poranění horních a dolních končetin, nejvíce úrazů v motokrosu tvoří fraktury a pouze malá část motokrosových jezdců má zkušenosti s indikací k ergoterapii i přes to, že úrazy v motokrosu značně ovlivňují jezdce ve vykonávání běžných denních činností. V rámci ergoterapeutické intervence docházelo nejčastěji ke zvětšování rozsahu pohybu, následně zlepšení svalové síly, nácviku všedních denních činností a nejméně cílené terapii ruky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with injuries in motocross and focuses on the possibilities of occupational therapy intervention for individual injuries caused by this sport. The aim of this work is to use a survey to find out which injuries most often occur in motocross riders and how many riders were subsequently indicated for occupational therapy. The theoretical part gathers information about motocross, protective equipment and the impact of motocross on the human body. Furthermore, on the basis of foreign studies, a list and characteristics of accidents that most often occur in motocross riders are compiled. This section describes head, spine, upper and lower limbs injuries and, last but not least, injuries to internal organs. The last chapter also describes the possibilities of occupational therapy intervention for these injuries. In the practical part, a questionnaire survey for motocross riders is compiled, the aim of which is to map the frequency of injuries among respondents, information about injuries and their subsequent encounter with occupation therapy. The analysis of the survey shows that most often motocross riders suffer injuries to the upper and lower limbs, most injuries in motocross are fractures and only a small proportion of motocross riders have experience with indications for occupational therapy, despite the fact that injuries in motocross significantly affect riders in the performance of activities of daily living. As part of occupational therapy intervention, the range of motion was most often increased, followed by an improvement of muscle strength, training activities of daily living and the least targeted hand therapy.
