Analysis of selected film works reflecting psychiatric aspects

Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce je rozbor filmových děl na základě psychiatrických poznatků. Jednotlivé filmy jsou vybrány dle svého žánrového zařazení a problematiky schizofrenie v díle. Zvolenými filmy jsou Já, mé druhé já a Irena odpovídající žánru komedie, Nájemník zastupující horor a Andělé všehomíra jako drama. V úvodu práce se zabýváme vymezením použité filmové analýzy, definicemi žánrů, jejich zákonitostmi a obecným uvedením do oblasti psychických nemocí, konkrétně schizofrenie. V hlavní části práce je proveden rozbor jednotlivých filmů prostřednictvím neoformalistické filmové analýzy. V závěru práce jsou filmy konfrontovány se zjištěnými znalostmi z oblasti psychiatrie a názory odborného lékaře.

Abstract:

The topic of this Diploma thesis is the analysis of film works on the basis of psychiatric knowledge. Individual films were selected with respect to their genre classification and the issue of schizophrenia with which the film works deal. The selected films were Me, Myself & Irene belonging to the genre of comedy films, The Tenant belonging to the genre of horror films and Angels of the Universe representing drama films. In the introductory part of the Diploma thesis, we focus on determination of used film analysis, definitions of genres, their patterns and general introduction into the area of mental disorders, in particular schizophrenia. The main part of the Diploma thesis provides analysis of individual films in the form of neoformalistic film analysis. The final part of the Diploma thesis provides confrontations of films with discovered knowledge from the area of psychiatry and with opinions of a qualified doctor.
