Zionism and the Arabs in Palestine

Abstract:

Ve své práci jsem se zaměřila na zrod národní myšlenky, tzn. sionismu a hlavní předsionistické myslitele, obrození hebrejského jazyka, který později tvořil nedílnou součást při opětovném utváření a návratu k tradiční židovské kultuře. Dalším tématem byly počátky moderní hebrejské literatury a celkově vznik hebrejské kultury v Palestině během období od roku 1882 až do vzniku samotného státu Izrael. Z druhé strany popisuje práce také arabský pohled, a to od zrození palestinského nacionalismu k arabské kultuře v Palestině, až k reakcím Arabů na rostoucí vliv sionismu. Na závěr následuje syntéza, která je zároveň cílem práce a je vedena komparativní metodou. Obsahuje hodnocení a porovnání hebrejské a arabské kultury, jak se navzájem ovlivňovaly v jazyce, literatuře, vzdělávání a společenském životě a naopak, jak kultura ovlivnila oba typy nacionalismů, jak židovský tak arabský. Pokusím se na celé toto téma pohlížet s nezaujatým pohledem.

Abstract:

The aim of my Bachelord paper is to briefly describe the Zionist movement and mainly Arab reactions of its growing influence in Palestine. The biggest accent is put on the cultural and spiritual framework of this movement. In my thesis I focused on origins of the national idea ie. Zionism and the most important pre-zionism thinkers revival of the Hebrew language which later formed an integral part while re-shaping and returning to traditional Jewish culture. Another issue is the beginnings of modern Hebrew literature and overall Hebrew culture rise in Palestine during the period from 1882 until the establishment of the State of Israel. On the other hand this work depicts the Arabic perspective from the birth of Palestinian nationalism to Arab culture of Palestine and to the Arab responses agains the growing influence of Zionism. There is synthesis in conclusion which is at the same time the aim of my work and it is guided by the comparative method. It includes review and comparison of Hebrew and Arabic culture how they mutually influenced the language literature education and social life and vice versa how the culture influenced both types of nationalisms, Jewish and Arab. I will do my best to look at this whole issue with a impartial view.
