Philosophy of the Architecture - Functionalism and Organic Architecture

Abstract:

Název práce zní Filosofie architektury ? funkcionalistická a organická architektura. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá charakteristickými rysy vybraných slohových směrů 20. století a opírá se o manifest funkcionalistické poučky ?forma sleduje funkci?. Nejprve objasňuje postavení filosofie architektury jako předmětné disciplíny, primární účel architektury a její historii. Posléze se snaží o evidentní provázanost prostoru a geometrie s architekturou, které jsou výrazovými prostředky komunikace mezi architektem a uživatelem stavby. Uvádí vlastnosti funkcionalismu a organické architektury a představuje dva nejvýznamnější architekty z každého směru ? H. Sullivan a Le Corbusier jako představitelé funkcionalismu, a F. L. Wright a A. Aalto jako představitelé organické architektury. Představuje jejich vliv na podobu vývoje v moderní architektuře a na dnešní světovou architektonickou produkci. Poslední kapitola naznačuje možná východiska pro budoucí generace architektů, kteří se budou hlásit k jejich odkazu.

Abstract:

The title of the bachelor thesis is Philosophy of the architecture ? functionalism and organic architecture. This thesis deals with the stylistic characteristics of selected lines of the 20th century and it is based on the manifesto functionalist propositions of "form follows function". Firstly it clarifies the status of the philosophy of architecture as a discipline in the question, the primary purpose of the architecture and its history. Then it tries to clear the area of consistency with the architecture and geometry which are expressive means of communication between architect and building users. It lists the characteristics of the functionalism and organic architecture, and presents the two most important architects from each style ? H. Sullivan and Le Corbusier as a representative of functionalism and F. L. Wright and A. Aalto as representatives of the organic architecture. It presents theirs influence on the development of modern architecture and the current global architectural production. The last chapter suggests some possible ways for future generations of architects who will report to their legacy.
