Specification and evaluation of key factors affecting the demand for electric vehicles

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce má za cíl analyzovat technické a ekonomické posouzení současné situace v oblasti elektrických vozidel. Cílem práce je provést rozbor stávajícího stavu na trhu osobních vozidel s elektrickým pohonem, identifikovat nejdůležitější aspekty související s motivací ke koupi elektromobilu a realizovat technicko-ekonomické zhodnocení výsledků. Teoretická část se věnuje podrobné literární rešerši související s tématem a následně zkoumá historii a postupný rozvoj trhu s elektrickými vozidly, jejich konstrukci a nejdůležitější součásti. Okrajově popisuje nejdůležitější milníky, které pomohly k rozvoji tohoto odvětví. Věnuje se též legislativě a podpoře zavádění elektromobility v Evropské unii a jejích členských státech. Aplikační část je rozdělena do tří hlavních kapitol. První část detailně mapuje klíčové faktory, se kterými kupující přichází do styku a na jejichž základě činí rozhodnutí ke koupi konkrétního modelu. Tyto aspekty jsou po prozkoumání detailně vyhodnoceny včetně navrženého řešení pro zlepšení situace. V druhé části praktické kapitoly dochází k aplikaci metod vícekriteriálního rozhodování pro výběr kompromisní varianty elektrické dodávky do společnosti K-plyn s.r.o., pro který byly využity metody Electre I a Promethee II. Výsledky jsou následně vyhodnoceny a určují jednu konkrétní variantu dodávky, která nejlépe splňuje požadavky společnosti. V následující kapitole poté dochází ke komparaci elektrické a srovnatelné dieselové varianty dodávky od totožné automobilky a byla hledána ekonomická návratnost – po kolika letech využívání elektromobilu vyváží jeho ekonomický provoz poměrně vyšší pořizovací náklady oproti dieselové variantě. Následně dochází ke zhodnocení tohoto časového úseku z hlediska výše úspor a případného odprodeje vozidla z firmy do soukromých rukou. V závěru práce dochází ke komplexnímu zhodnocení výsledků získaných v aplikační části a subjektivní pohled autora na tuto problematiku v roce 2023.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis aims to analyze the technical and economic evaluation of the current situation regarding electric vehicles. The objective of the thesis is to analyse the current state of the market of passenger electric vehicles, identify the most important aspects related to the motivation to purchase an electric vehicle and carry out a techno-economic evaluation of the results obtained. The theoretical part is devoted to a detailed literature review related to the topic examined and, then, it examines the history and gradual development of the electric vehicle market, its design and the most important elements. It describes, in a peripheral way, the most important milestones that have contributed to the development of this sector as well. It also looks at legislation and support for the introduction of electric mobility in the European Union and its member states. The application section is divided into three main chapters. The first part specifies the key factors that buyers come into contact with and based on which they make a decision to purchase a particular car model. These aspects are assessed in detail after examination including proposed approaches in order to improve the situation. In the second part of the practical chapter, selected multi-criteria decision making methods are applied to determine a compromise option concerning an electric van in terms of supplying the K-plyn Ltd. company. The Electre I and Promethee II methods were applied for the multi-criteria evaluation of variants itself. The findings are considered to determine one particular option that best meets the company's requirements. Subsequently, the following chapter compares the electric and comparable variant of the van with combustion engine from identical car company, and searches for specifying an economic payback; i.e., after how many years of use of the electric vehicle will its economic operation offset the comparatively higher acquisition costs compared to the variant with combustion engine. This period is then evaluated in terms of the amount of financial savings and eventual sale of the vehicle from the company into private hands. The thesis concludes with a comprehensive assessment of the results obtained in the application part and the author's subjective standpoint on this issue in 2023.
