From Descartes´ methodic skepsis to "cogito, ergo sum"

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této diplomové práce je Descartova metodická skepse a jeho první princip cogito, ergo sum. V první kapitole se autor v krátkosti bude zabývat dvěma nejhlavnějšími Descartovými předchůdci. U Augustina zmíní jeho argument proti skeptikům a u Tomáše Akvinského jeho teorii poznání. Druhá kapitola se věnuje metodické skepsi, která byla promyšlenou metodou, za jejíž pomoci Descartes očistil své již předem stanovené cogito od všeho, co k němu nepatří. Třetí kapitola se zaměří na samotnou problematiku cogito, ergo sum. Autor přiblíží otázku formální podoby, dále se bude zabývat karteziánským cogito a také jeho vztahem k sum.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on Descartes´ methodic skepsis and his first principle: cogito, ergo sum. In the first chapter, the author will examine Descartes´ two most important predecessors. He will mention both Augustine´s argument against skeptics and the theory of knowledge by Thomas Aquinas. The second chapter examines methodic skepsis as an elaborate method Descartes used in order to expunge any superfluous connotations from his pre-established concept of cogito. The third chapter deals with cogito, ergo sum itself. The author will enquire the formal structere of this formulation. He will furher examine cartesian cogito and it´s relation to sum.
