Concept of Green Roof Design on a Brownfield Site

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat možnost implementace designu zelené střechy na vybraném brownfieldu. Problematika zelené infrastruktury v urbanizovaných oblastech byla součástí mnoha politik a diskuzí v rámci celého moderního světa. Můžeme s jistotou říci, že změny v tomto oboru budou naše jediné zbraně v boji proti katastrofě, jakou je globální oteplování a jeho dopadům na naše každodenní životy. Jedním z nejlepších způsobů, jak bojovat proti neustále se oteplujícímu mikroklimatu měst, je využití zelených střech. S jejich estetickým designem a ekonomickými a environmentálními výhodami mají velkou šanci upoutat pozornost investorů, kteří chtějí rozvíjet svůj majetek udržitelným způsobem a tím pomoci budovat odolnější městské prostory. V této práci jsou zkoumány možné implikace implementace zelených střech na městské prostředí, dále je zaveden detailní průvodce designem zelených střech o šesti krocích a v neposlední řadě jsou prověřena možná rizika, která by s takovýmto projektem mohla souviset.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the possibility of implementation of a green roof design on a chosen brownfield site. The problematics of green infrastructure in urban areas have been a part of many policies and discussions across the modern world. We can say with certainty, that changes in this field are about to be one of our only weapons to yield against the catastrophe of global warming and its effect on our daily lives. One of the best ways to fight the ever-warming microclimate of cities is the use of green roofs. With their aesthetic design, economic and environmental benefits, they are very likely to catch the eye of investors, that intend to develop their property in sustainable way and through that help to build more resilient urban spaces. In this thesis possible implications of green roof implementation on an urban area are studied, a comprehensive six step guide to green roof design is created and possible risks joined with such project are explored.
