Job satisfaction and its relationship to turnover intentions

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem mezi pracovní spokojeností a fluktuačními tendencemi zaměstnanců ve vybrané firmě. V teoretické části práce jsou nejprve představeny různá pojetí pracovní spokojenosti a také teoretická východiska tohoto konceptu - jednofaktorová a dvoufaktorová teorie. Pracovní spokojenost lze pojímat jako fenomén, jenž je ovlivňován řadou aspektů, které nazýváme jako faktory pracovní spokojenosti. Proto jsou v práci diskutovány nejen vnitřní faktory pracovní spokojenosti, jako je pohlaví, věk, seniorita jedince nebo jeho postavení, ale také faktory vnější, kam můžeme zařadit například plat a zaměstnanecké benefity, pracovní podmínky, vztahy s nadřízenými i mezi spolupracovníky a práci samotnou. Na základě empirických výzkumů bývá pracovní spokojenost spojována s konceptem fluktuace, nebo s takzvanými fluktuačními tendencemi, které jsou dalším podstatným fenoménem této práce. Hlavním cílem této práce je ověřit, zda existuje vztah mezi výše uvedenými proměnnými – pracovní spokojeností a fluktuačními tendencemi. Dílčím cílem této práce je také stanovit celkovou míru pracovní spokojenosti a rovněž její míru v jednotlivých faktorech. Ve vztahu k fluktuačním tendencím je mou snahou zjistit, jaký mají tyto tendence charakter, a rovněž jaké míry dosahují. Empirická část této práce má podobu kvantitativního výzkumu, konkrétně dotazníkového šetření.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the relationship of job satisfaction and turnover intentions of employees in the chosen company. In the theoretical part of this thesis different conceptions of job satisfaction and its theoretical bases are defined, e.g. one-factor and two-factor theory. Job satisfaction is phenomena which is influenced by several aspects – factors of job satisfaction. Therefore I discuss not only internal factors like gender, age, seniority or job level but also external factors which include pay and fringe benefits, working conditions, relationships with supervisors and co-workers as well, and the job itself. Based on empirical studies, job satisfaction use to be connected with the concept of turnover or as it is called turnover intentions, which is next important phenomena of this thesis. The main task of this diploma thesis is to verify if there is a relationship between two variables mentioned above - job satisfaction and turnover intentions. The aim of this thesis is also to determine overall level of job satisfaction and the level of job satisfaction in each partial factor. Relate to turnover intentions the main task is to identify a character and also the level of this behaviour. The empirical part of this thesis is based on quantitative research, especially on a questionnaire survey.
