The thesis is focused on the problematics of singing interpretation of the leading role Desdemona of the opera Otello by Giuseppe Verdi, the important Italian composer of the 19th century. The thesis consists of the four chapters, which describe Verdi's operatic works based on the Shakespearean theme, origin, characteristics and brief content of the opera Otello and its roles. Diplomová práca je zameraná na problematiku speváckej interpretácie postavy Desdemony z opery Otello Giuseppe Verdiho, významného talianskeho skladateľa 19. storočia. Práca obsahuje štyri kapitoly, v ktorých bude čitateľ oboznámený s opernou tvorbou Giuseppe Verdiho na Shakespearovský námet, so vznikom, charakteristikou a stručným obsahom opery Otello a jeho postáv.
