A Comparison of Leadership Styles Between Commercial Enterprises and Non-governmental Organisations in Kosovo

Anotace:

This thesis compares leadership styles at non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with those at businesses in Kosovo, and gauges differences between how female and male stakeholders engage in transformational, transactional and laissez-faire leadership styles. It uses a quantitative research method and t-test analysis based on a sample of 404 respondents. While the study revealed no significant differences between leadership styles at NGOs and businesses in general in Kosovo, it found that female leaders exhibited more transformational behavior than male leaders. Moreover, female leaders engaged more in contingent reward behavior, a component of transactional leadership. Since the small sample size limited the ability to identify differences in Kosovar leadership styles, further research, with larger samples, should be conducted.
