Business Process Reengineering: The impact of the implementation of new technology into the business processes

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje problematice reengineeringu podnikových procesů. Hlavním cílem je analyzovat a diskutovat dopady spojené se zavedením nové technologie do procesů podniku. Nejprve jsou vymezeny základní pojmy procesního řízení a modelování s důrazem na reengineering a metodiku modelování podnikových procesů MMABP. Následně jsou vymezeny logistické řetězce a jejich řízení a je diskutována technologie 3D tisku v kontextu farmaceutického odvětví. V praktické části práce je uveden a analyzován současný model výroby léků malých molekul konkrétního podniku, jenž je vytvořen v souladu s metodikou MMABP. Tento model je dále použit jako základní šablona logistických řetězců farmaceutických firem. Následují přetvořené modely po implementaci 3D tisku do procesů podniku v závislosti na postavení 3D tiskárny v logistickém řetězci. Nejprve jsou vytvořeny a analyzovány modely procesů po implementaci 3D tisku do výrobních procesů podniku, a poté u zákazníka. Jednotlivé alternativy výroby jsou řádně analyzovány a diskutovány, přičemž vytvořené modely doplňují analýzu pramenů o vizuální zpracování procesů a umožňují tak přehlednější vhled do zkoumané problematiky.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis covers the topic of Business Process Reengineering. The main objective is to analyse and discuss the impacts associated with the implementation of new technology into the business processes. Firstly, the basic terms of process management and modelling are defined with an emphasis on reengineering and methodology of business processes modelling MMABP. Subsequently, the work defines supply chains and their management and discusses 3D printing technology in the context of the pharmaceutical industry. The practical part of the thesis presents and analyses the current model of small molecule drug manufacturing in particular company. The model is created in accordance with the MMABP methodology and is further used as a basic template for supply chain of any pharmaceutical company. Afterwards, the model is recreated after implementing 3D printing into the business processes, depending on the position of the 3D printer in the supply chain. Firstly, there is created and analysed business process model after 3D printing technology implementation into the company’s manufacturing process, and then to the customer. All alternatives are properly analysed and discussed. Created models complement the analysis of the sources of the visualization of the processes and thus enable better insight into the subject.
